The Area -
- The village of East Linton is in a conservation area with buildings dating back to the 11th Century.
The village name comes from the Linn (waterfall) which lies on the River Tyne nearby.
There are many old houses, churches and the fountain in The Square opposite.. There is also a working mill run by the National Trust for Scotland - Preston Mill.
Further afield is Traprain Law with a Bronze Age fort on its summit, North Berwick with its award winning Seabird Centre which has live cameras looking onto the seabird colonies on the Bass Rock and sea trips out to spot seals, sea birds and sometimes whales can be arranged.
There are numerous golf courses in the county (including the championship course at Muirfield), fabulous beaches and excellent walking, both low level and up in the Lammermuir Hills nearby.
